Chapter 1: Triggers of grief
Places and activities
You might have a restaurant, vacation spot or other special place that you shared with the person who died. It can be difficult to go back to these places.
When you return, it will feel different. You may experience waves of grief. However, returning can connect you with the person who has died.
Going back also gives you the chance to rediscover old experiences and give them new meaning in your life. In the long run, challenging yourself to visit, rather than avoid these special places, may eventually trigger positive memories, not just painful ones.
