Introduction

As her disease got worse, I worried about what was coming next. I had no idea some of her symptoms were related to one another. I think having more of an understanding of that would have been helpful.

The person you are caring for may experience different physical symptoms or other health concerns related to their illness, treatments, or medications. Familiar symptoms might change as their condition worsens or if their medications change. You’ve likely learned a lot about them and the potential physical symptoms they might experience.

This chapter explores some common physical symptoms that may be experienced as illness advances. You might choose to read only the ones specific to the person you’re caring for.
