It took me some time to feel okay enough to even consider dating. Then I met someone and we’ve gone out for dinner a few times. I am slowly learning that I can still be loyal to my deceased husband, and also be happy with another. Of course it is not the same, nor will it ever be what I had with my husband. But I know that my husband would want me to be happy, and that gives me the strength and the comfort to continue.

Periods of loss can lead to new relationships, anything from a casual acquaintance in a support group who becomes a good friend to a new romantic partner. You might find yourself thinking about dating, wanting one day to have a companion in your life again. A new relationship can bring happiness - and also the complication of a new person in the family.
