Grief can be difficult to understand. You may have trouble recognizing yourself in grief. It may also be affecting your daily life in ways you do not realize.

When you are grieving, you might:

  • Spend much of your time yearning for the person who has died or thinking about their death.
  • Have trouble doing your day-to-day activities.
  • Have more health problems and trouble sleeping.
  • Need time off work.
  • Have strong and unpredictable emotions.
