The grief expert says
Dr. Efrem Leakemariam, church pastor with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Toronto, speaks about faith giving hope.(3:22)Video transcript

Your spiritual and religious beliefs can be shaken by the death of someone you care about. Your faith may be especially challenged if the person was young or their death unexpected. "Why would a loving God (Allah, Creator) allow this to happen?" some ask. A few may reject their faith, which can have painful consequences if this means losing the support of a religious or spiritual community.

On the other hand, many are comforted by their faith when someone important to them dies and their beliefs strengthened and enriched by the experience.

If you are having a crisis of faith, you may benefit from talking with a member of your faith community or a spiritual counsellor.
