Chapter 2: Where do I get help?

Friends, family and spiritual community

Friends and family

Friends and family can provide support, though they may be struggling with their own grief and unable to help. Support can come from surprising places. A colleague or acquaintance who has been through a similar experience may be of help. It can take courage to reach out and start a conversation; you have nothing to lose and quite a bit to gain.

Faith-based or spiritual community

Some people find strength and comfort in their faith or spirituality as they move through grief. Religious and spiritual communities can be a support at this time.
