Keeping safety a priority

When I finally asked the doctor for help because I was fearing for myself, I felt both relief and guilt. I continued to feel that way for a long time, because his level of anger and agitation was a game changer in the care he needed.

If the person with an illness has become confused, they may become argumentative or, in rare cases, even combative. Get help if you feel that your safety is threatened.

The person who is ill may need a change in medication or treatments, and you might need to consider arrangements for alternative care. This may mean admission to a hospice, hospital, or other facility.
