Chapter 2: Keeping medications straight

Staying organized

I didn’t find managing the meds to be difficult. What was difficult was when she would question what I was doing or argue about the medications.

It is important to stay well organized and to ensure you understand the logistics around administering and storing medications. Ideally these tasks should be organized by a single person. Anyone else who is involved in care or who visits can be asked to work within whatever system has been established.

Here are a couple of important points to remember:

  • Give the correct dose at the appropriate time.
  • Keep track of the medications given and the time they were given.
